Trackball Guide

Games, sensitivity, cleaning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement guidance for trackball-equipped cabinets.

Using the trackball

Trackballs work best in games designed for rolling direction and speed, including classic golf, bowling, missile-defense, and marble games. The game or emulator must be mapped to the trackball.

Sensitivity

Test at the game's default first. Adjust one analog sensitivity or acceleration value at a time, record the original number, and test both fine movement and fast rolls.

Cleaning

  1. 1Shut down and disconnect power.
  2. 2Remove loose dust with a clean microfibre cloth.
  3. 3Wipe the exposed ball and bezel with a barely damp cloth.
  4. 4Rotate the ball to expose another area and repeat.
  5. 5Let all surfaces dry before reconnecting power.

Maintenance and replacement

Do not apply household lubricant. Rough movement, scraping, persistent drift, or missing input may require internal roller or bearing service. Contact Mectura before disassembly or replacement so the correct part and wiring are used.

Troubleshooting

Before troubleshooting a controller, light gun, trackball, or spinner, ask whether any USB cable, adapter, hub, port, or internal connection was moved. A customer may restore only a documented external USB connection after shutdown. Internal pins and wiring require a technician and the original Mectura reference.

  • Open the Trackball collection and test Golden Tee, Centipede, Millipede, Missile Command, Marble Madness, Crystal Castles, World Class Bowling, or Shuuz.
  • If one game fails but another works, record the exact title and system; this is game or emulator configuration, not a BIOS diagnosis by default.
  • Ask whether the trackball-to-USB adapter, USB lead, or any connector was moved.
  • Customers may restore only a documented external USB connection after shutdown.
  • If both the spinner and trackball stop after a restart, their mouse-device order may have changed; Mectura should restore the approved mouse index.
  • Internal harness pins, adapter wiring, and mouse-index repair require a technician using the original Mectura reference.
  • Return sensitivity to the approved default without remapping controls.
